What does health and safety mean for your business?

When I’m approached by potential clients it can be for reasons such as:

Our insurance company has requested we need to put in place H&S arrangements.

We are going out to tender but need H&S documents prepared as part of this.

We’ve had a H&S audit completed and now need some help with our actions.

Although these scenarios often kick start a company’s interest in making sure they have the health and safety necessities ie. documented procedures and risk assessments, it’s also important to ensure that these documents are not just stored in a folder (or online) to gather dust.

The findings need to be shared with employees via team meetings, during training sessions and included in action plans. It’s not just a one off task/paper exercise, but an ongoing requirement to help change the culture of a business, as everyone has the right to go home healthy from work.
